Mississippi State football looks to end their losing streak today against the UMass Minutemen. What's the status of some key Bulldogs before kickoff?
Wide Receiver Mario Craver out against UMass
Last week against Arkansas, Mississippi State was missing one of its top offensive weapons with true freshman wide receiver Mario Craver out. Craver suffered a leg injury in the second half against Texas A&M two weeks ago. With no injury reports this week, it was unknown whether or not Craver would return to the lineup for the Bulldogs against the Minutemen. With kickoff approaching, we have an answer.
Sam Sklar of the Clarion Ledger is reporting that Mario Craver is not dressed for today's game. The Bulldog offense will once again have to look to other play-makers in the receiving game.
Offensive lineman Canon Boone out for the season
State's offensive line depth has taken a hit. Backup guard Canon Boone is out for the season, according to his father.
Boone had seen more snaps in recent weeks for State, and he was one of their top reserve lineman. While State's starting group has largely stayed intact, they're now thinner should one of their starters go down.
Dinkins done for season, updates on other defensive lineman
Defensive line depth has been an issue all season for Mississippi State. Earlier this week, Jeff Lebby announced that DT Kalvin Dinkins would not return this season after an injury suffered all the way back in Week 1. Three other DL, tackles Kedrick Bingley-Jones and Trevion Williams and end De'Monte Russell, all missed last week for the Bulldogs. Before kickoff, we now have an idea of who will suit up, again thanks to reports from Sam Sklar.
It appears that both De'Monte Russell and Kedrick Bingley-Jones will once again be out for the Bulldogs while Trevion Williams looks ready to return to action. Even with the return of Williams, depth remains a big problem along the lines.
