Mississippi State football, 5-4 overall and 1-4 in the SEC, hosts the No. 5 Georgia Bulldogs, 7-1 overall and 5-1 in the SEC, in Starkville Saturday morning. According to the final injury report for the matchup, it will be a "Game Time Decision" for one of Mississippi State's top players.
Safety Isaac Smith a Game Time Decision for Mississippi State vs Georgia
We're still waiting to see whether or not the Bulldogs will have the leader of their defense on Saturday. Safety Isaac Smith is considered a "Game Time Decision" for Mississippi State. The SEC's leading tackler in 2024, Smith is coming off his best game of the 2025 season, recording 11 tackles against Arkansas as well as a pass deflection. His presence would be key against Georgia, as he'd play a big role in limiting UGA's dangerous rushing attack and covering UGA's leading receiver Zachariah Branch. State is otherwise healthy at the safety position, and if Smith can't go, Jr. Tony Mitchell will step in.
Mississippi State still without right tackle Albert Reese IV vs Georgia
Mississippi State will once again have to find ways to produce on offense with their top offensive lineman sidelined. Right tackle Albert Reese IV is out for the second-straight week against Georgia. There has been a notable drop-off in State's offensive line performance when Reese IV is out of the lineup. That's especially true for State's rushing attack, which is already facing a major test against a Georgia run defense that's one of the SEC's best. With Reese IV out of the lineup, So. Jayvin James will step in at right tackle while RS Fr. Jimothy Lewis takes his spot at left tackle.
