Pitching matchup between Mississippi State and Florida State
This should be a fantastic pitching matchup. FSU is throwing a projected Top 5 MLB Draft pick in left-hander Jamie Arnold. In 13 starts, he's 7-2 with a 3.04 ERA and a 1.07 WHIP. For the Bulldogs, they too will be going with their ace. Lefty Pico Kohn is 5-3 in 14 starts with a 4.13 ERA and a 1.15 WHIP.
Key batters for Bulldogs and Seminoles
Each of these teams boasts multiple studs in the lineups, and interestingly, the top batter for both squads went 0-4 on Friday. FSU shortstop Alex Lodise is hitting .407 with 17 HRs and 66 RBI. MSU third-baseman Ace Reese is hitting .364 with 21 HRs and 66 RBI. We'll see if that pair sees more production on Saturday.
Mississippi State vs Florida State prediction
This should be a fantastic game between two outstanding programs. Both squads have lineups capable of doing damage, and both will have their ace pitcher getting the start. The difference will almost certainly come down to which ace performs better, and that's where the 'Noles have an edge. FSU is more likely to get big hits off of Pico Kohn than MSU is to get big hits off of Jamie Arnold. It'll be tight, but the Bulldogs drop this one.
