Another Mississippi State football alum can now hoist a Lombardi Trophy. With the Seattle Seahawks' 29-13 victory over the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LX Sunday night in Santa Clara, former Bulldog and star NFL left tackle Charles Cross is a Super Bowl champion.

In what was largely a defensive battle, Charles Cross played a key role in Seattle's victory, as offensive line play would prove to be the difference. While the New England OL had an abysmal showing, Cross and the Seahawk OL were up to the task against a strong Patriot defense. They allowed just one sack and three tackles for loss on the night while paving the way for 141 rushing yards.
135 of those yards went to running back Kenneth Walker III, the most by a player in the Super Bowl since Terrell Davis in Super Bowl XXXII in January of 1998. Walker III was named the game's MVP, the first RB to earn that honor since Davis. If not for Cross and the OL, he doesn't have that type of performance.
Charles Cross has been one of the NFL's top left tackles since being drafted in the 1st round of the 2022 NFL Draft. His role as the anchor of the Seattle line recently earned him a massive $104.4 million contract extension. The former All-SEC standout gets to add a Super Bowl ring on top of that big pay raise.
Charles Cross becomes 27th Mississippi State Bulldog to win Super Bowl
With this victory, Charles Cross becomes the 27th different MSU football alum to win a Super Bowl, with it being the 31st Super Bowl victory by a Bulldog. The Laurel, MS native is the first Mississippi State offensive lineman to be part of a Super Bowl winning team since Martinas Rankin with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2020, and he is the first winning lineman on an active Super Bowl roster since Tom Goode in 1971.
This is the fourth-straight season that a former Bulldog has won a ring, with Darius Slay and the Eagles winning last year and Chris Jones and Willie Gay Jr. winning with the Chiefs each of the two seasons before that. And that run could continue. It's a real possibility that Charles Cross and the Seahawks, loaded with young talent, find themselves back competing for another ring in the near future.
