Mississippi State football injury report vs Alcorn State

Mississippi State will take the field without a pair of starters along the lines of scrimmage. Earlier in the week, it was announced that right tackle Blake Steen and defensive end Will Whitson are both out for the season with injury. Steen hadn't played since the first half of the season-opener while Whitson suffered his injury late in the first half against Arizona State after impressing here in the early part of the season.

Starting left tackle Albert Reese IV has made the move over to the right side (where he started last season) in Steen's absence and has played well. With Whitson out, the likes of Deonte Anderson, Trevion Williams, and Red Hibbler will need to step up at the DE position.

Questions remain about the availability of LT Jimothy Lewis and CB Jett Jefferson. Lewis was a gametime decision against Arizona State but did not play while Jefferson has yet to suit up for the Bulldogs this season. Though both are players Mississippi State wants to have, it would not be a surprise if they both sit out again against Alcorn State to assure they're both fully healthy down the road.

Mississippi State Bulldogs vs Alcorn State Braves score prediction

No disrespect to the Braves, but there is simply no reason for this to be competitive game. Even with the hangover factor following last week's emotional victory, Mississippi State should win this matchup with ease. Alcorn State is not a particularly good FCS team, and the talent level is no where close to being comparable. This should be a chance for the Bulldogs to get plenty of reps to younger players.

Mississippi State wins 51-6
