Rivalry Week is here, and the action on Black Friday gets kicked off with one of college football's most hate-filled matchups. It's the Egg Bowl between the Mississippi State Bulldogs and the Ole Miss Rebels, kicking off in Starkville at 11:00 AM CT.
All of the attention in this game is on Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin. He's being heavily pursued by both LSU and Florida, and, whether intentional or not, he's made it quite clear he's at least considering taking one of those jobs. That's created a significant distraction for a 10-1 (6-1 SEC) Rebels team that is ranked No. 7 in the country and is firmly in the College Football Playoff mix.
On the other side of the rivalry, Jeff Lebby's Bulldogs sit at 5-6 (1-6 SEC), but they've taken some close losses this season. The Bulldogs are one win away from reaching bowl-eligibility for the first time since 2022. That was also the last time they earned a win over Ole Miss, and they'd love nothing more than to spoil what's been an all-time great season for their rivals while locking-up a trip to the postseason.
There's always a chance for something weird to happen in this rivalry. Will the Rebels avoid a letdown and stay rolling, or will the Bulldogs earn a massive home win to close the regular season? Here are the final odds and a prediction...

Egg Bowl score prediction: can Bulldogs upset the Rebels?
Let's get bold. For as good as the Rebel offense is, they can at times struggle to convert redzone trips to touchdowns. Ole Miss will move the ball well, but State finds ways to keep them out of the end zone and hold them to field goals. Meanwhile the Bulldog offense gets its run game going against the Rebel defense and puts up the points needed to have a chance. And it's fair to expect Mississippi State to play with more of an edge given the uncertainty around Ole Miss. The Bulldogs get the upset in Starkville.
Mississippi State wins 31-26
