Mississippi State football makes the trip north to Columbia on Saturday night to take on the Missouri Tigers. The Bulldogs have taken a strong step forward in year two under head coach Jeff Lebby. 5-5 on the season and 1-5 in the SEC, they are searching for at least one more win to reach bowl-eligibility for the first time since 2022. Their first attempt at win No. 6 last Saturday went poorly in a 41-21 home loss to Georgia.

Earning their sixth win won't be easy this week either. Missouri is 6-3 on the season and 2-3 in the SEC. Though the Tigers have faded quite a bit since their 5-0 start, losing three of four, they're still a solid team, fielding a good defense and outstanding rushing attack.

Will the Bulldogs secure a trip to the postseason, or will Missouri lock-up a third-straight winning season under head coach Eli Drinkwitz? Here are the final odds and a score prediction for Saturday night's matchup in CoMo.

Mississippi State Bulldogs at Missouri Tigers score prediction

Though Missouri is reeling at the moment, and Mississippi State has shown the capability of playing competitive games against teams of their caliber, this looks to be a poor matchup for the Bulldogs. The Tiger offense is outstanding in the running game, averaging 232 rushing yards per game. Lead back Ahmad Hardy already has over 1000 yards and 12 TDs this season.

Meanwhile, Mississippi State defensively allows 176 rushing yards per game, one of the worst marks in the SEC. Though the Tiger pass game is not much of a threat, the Bulldogs could struggle to get stops.

On the other side of the ball, Mississippi State's OL has struggled, giving up 3.2 sacks per game. Missouri has one of the SEC's best pass-rushes, and with a good run defense too, it could be hard for the Bulldogs to find consistent offensive success. This won't be a blowout, but Missouri handles State.
