In order to put an NCAA Tournament team on the court for the 2025-2026 season, Mississippi State basketball has had to do plenty of work in the transfer portal. Part of the reason they're so active in the portal is because of losses from their own roster to the portal.

Mississippi State basketball transfer portal entrants for 2025

Eight Bulldogs chose to enter the transfer portal this spring, and a few of them were significant players last season.

Forward KeShawn Murphy

Far and away the biggest loss to roster. KeShawn Murphy was Mississippi State's top option at the five last season. He was the team's second-leading scorer with 11.7 points per game and led the team in rebounds (7.4) and blocks (1.1). Murphy transferred to Auburn.

Center Michael Nwoko

Another significant loss. Michael Nwoko transferred in from Miami last year. He made 32 starts for the Bulldogs at center, averaging 6.1 points and 4.6 rebounds. Though not the most productive big, Nwoko was a quality contributor with plenty of room for growth. He transferred to LSU.

Guard Riley Kugel

The final notable departure, Riley Kugel was one of Mississippi State's top guards last season. The transfer from Florida made 14 starts, averaging 9.3 points, 3.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 1.1 steals per game. Kugel had three 20+ point performances for the Bulldogs. He transferred to UCF.

Guard Kanye Clary

A major part of State's 2024 transfer portal class, Kanye Clary proved to be entirely unimpactful for the Bulldogs last season. A former Penn State point guard, Clary made four starts in State's first seven games, averaging 6.3 points and 2.6 assists in those outings. An injury sidelined him, and Clary took a redshirt to transfer. He made the move to Oklahoma State.

Center Jeremy Foumena

A transfer center from Rhode Island in 2024, Jeremy Foumena played in nine games for Mississippi State last season, averaging 1.1 points. He is transferring to UCF.

Guard Martavious Russell

A sophomore, Martavious Russell played in 11 games for the Bulldogs last season, averaging 2.2 points. In his final game with Mississippi State, he scored seven points on 3-6 shooting in MSU's blowout SEC Tournament win over LSU. He is transferring to ULM.

Forward Adrian Myers

Myers made 10 appearances as a true freshman in 2023-2024 before redshirting last season. He is transferring to San Jose State.

Guard Harrison Alexander

Harrison Alexander redshirted as a true freshman and made 11 appearances last season. He has entered the portal but not yet landed on a destination.
