Mississippi State football: Jeff Lebby thanks Brent Venables
By Ethan Lee
After Brent Venables thanked Mississippi State football’s Jeff Lebby, the former Oklahoma offensive coordinator thanked his former boss.
It’d be pretty safe to say that Jeff Lebby likely wouldn’t be the head coach in Starkville right now if he hadn’t been given the chance to be the offensive coordinator for the Oklahoma Sooners. Because he got the chance to coach at his alma mater, he now gets to be the head coach of the Mississippi State football program.
And for that, it sounds like Lebby is pretty grateful.
The former offensive coordinator for Brent Venables’ OU Sooners was thanked by Venables shortly after Lebby got the job leading the Miss. State Bulldogs. And Lebby took the time to reciprocate with some gratitude and thanks of his own.
Venables thanked Lebby with a statement that reads:
“On behalf of our staff, our players, and Sooner Nation, thank you Jeff for all you’ve done here at Oklahoma! We wish you, Staley, Kora, and Kane the absolute best! Boomer!”
And Lebby ensured that he’d thank the man who helped put him in a position to be a head coach.
Mississippi State football: Jeff Lebby expresses gratitude to Brent Venables
Here’s how Lebby showed he was grateful to Brent Venables via X (the platform that was previously known as Twitter):
“So much love and appreciation for having the opportunity to be back in Norman the last two years and be part of laying the foundation!! THANK YOU Coach V!”
Lebby has a lot to be grateful for when it comes to Venables. While Lebby’s prior work as the offensive coordinator for the UCF Knights and the Ole Miss Rebels helped make him a fascinating coach to watch, it’s not a stretch to say that the fact a blue blood was willing to approach him to run the offense that made it possible for him to become a head coach.
And so, Venables made it possible for this to happen.
