The Mississippi State football team came up short in the 2023 Egg Bowl. Here’s what MSU fans are saying following the Bulldogs’ loss.

Despite the fact that Greg Knox had MSU ready to play, the Mississippi State Bulldogs came up short in a hard-fought Egg Bowl against the Ole Miss Rebels. MSU’s offense fell flat on a couple different occasions and the Bulldogs are now headed into the offseason to continue searching for the next head coach in Starkville (unless there aren’t enough bowl eligible teams, that is).

The 2023 Egg Bowl was rough, but MSU did better than many expected. Mississippi State’s defense did well (while special teams and the offense had some notable issues) and the Bulldogs ultimately came up short in a 17-7 loss.

It could’ve been better, it could’ve been worse. It’s about what I expected from the Mississippi State football team, but I was encouraged when Kevin Barbay and Will Rogers managed to get some rhythm and momentum on offense. And now I’d really like to know why the Bulldogs didn’t play more aggressive on offense more regularly throughout the season.

I’d like to know whose decision that was. Because while MSU fans are going to blame Barbay, I’m not sold on the notion that he’s the only one to take a look at here.

But, well, it is what it is. And MSU fans have a lot of thoughts on this contest (as they should). Here’s what Mississippi State football fans think of the Bulldogs’ loss in the 2023 Egg Bowl:

Yeah, I’m shocked I watched it all too. The game was a lot closer than I think most people ever could have expected and, well, that made it interesting to watch all the way up into the end. So, shoutout to Greg Knox for making that happen.

And speaking of Knox… Mississippi State fans should be grateful for what he’s done for this football program.

Thankfully, it looks like they are.

Now onto the future for Mississippi State football. I have no clue what’s next, but I guess it’s back to tracking airplanes and seeing what flights go where and if there’s a chance meeting somewhere.

Oh, and basketball season. We’ve got basketball to watch.

Next. Everything to know as MSU replaces Zach Arnett. dark
