After the firing of head coach Zach Arnett, Mississippi State football running back Simeon Price has entered into the transfer portal.

There’s a lot of uncertainty surrounding Mississippi State football right now. Simeon Price has made the choice to put his name into the NCAA transfer portal just days after the firing of Bulldogs head coach Zach Arnett.

While Price wasn’t a key offensive contributor this season, many were excited about his potential and talent and what he could do if given the opportunity to shine.

Now, Price’s decision leaves his future with Mississippi State in question all while the Bulldogs begin searching for a new head coach to lead the program forward.

Price was an intriguing talent for the Bulldogs and the former 3-star recruit saw the field in 20 games with the Bulldogs over the past three seasons. Unfortunately, between the depth at running back this season and a disjointed offense without a consistent vision, Price only received five carries this season.

He still showed flashes of versatility and talent. In Mike Leach’s Air Raid, it looked like Price would be able to break through and have a big season at some point.

Unfortunately, that never came to fruition.

Now, with Arnett out as head coach, Price is exploring all of his options rather than simply waiting to see what happens at head coach in Starkville. While it’s theoretically possible that Price will return, the Bulldogs will almost certainly need a new head coach in a hurry to convince him to come back to MSU.

And that firing, while it made sense, will lead to a lot of uncertainty for MSU right now. Until Zac Selmon gets a new head coach, it seems likely that several other Bulldog players will entertain the idea of entering the transfer portal.
