As the Mississippi State football team tries to upset the Texas A&M Aggies, ESPN’s FPI projection doesn’t exactly give MSU much of a chance to win.

There aren’t exactly many reasons to believe the Mississippi State football team will manage to pull off a road upset of the Texas A&M Aggies on Saturday. The Bulldogs (4-5 overall, 1-5 SEC) are entering into this game coming off of back-to-back SEC losses to the Auburn Tigers and Kentucky Wildcats.

Meanwhile, a talented (but underachieving) Jimbo Fisher-led Texas A&M Aggies team currently sits at 5-4 overall and 3-3 in SEC play after a narrow defeat to a really commendable and impressive Ole Miss Rebels team.

Now the Bulldogs need to find a way to upset Texas A&M in College Station. Maybe they can limit the Aggies’ (potentially) explosive offense? Maybe Will Rogers will be healthy and the Bulldogs can stretch the field?

Or maybe ESPN’s Football Power Index is right to doubt the Bulldogs here.

ESPN’s FPI gives Mississippi State football incredibly slim chance of beating Texas A&M Aggies on the road

It’s probably pretty fair that the Bulldogs don’t have much of a shot to win this game, according to ESPN’s FPI. Right now, FPI is giving State a 13.7 percent chance of finding a way to beat the Aggies in College Station.

That doesn’t seem really all that unfair given that A&M has managed to keep things close with teams like Alabama, Tennessee, and Ole Miss. The Crimson Tide, Vols, and Rebels all have solid teams this season.

Each time MSU has been tasked with a tough test, the Bulldogs have crumbled. And when MSU gets the pleasure of facing Max Johnson, Ainias Smith and Le’Veon Moss, will we see the Bulldogs find a way to win?

Or will ESPN’s FPI be right in doubting Arnett’s Miss. State football team?
