Georgia Southern at Texas State

4:00 PM CT on ESPN+

I hate that some of best G5 games this week have been reserved for subscription-based streaming platforms, but that’s just college football in 2023. Technically it wasn’t that long ago that games like this wouldn’t have been broadcast in any format, and pretty soon we’ll have plenty of high-profile games that are only available through streaming. So ultimately this is just something the college football diehards will have to embrace.

And streaming may in fact be worth it for this game! Here’s another game that should light up the scoreboards with a pair of wide open attacks. Georgia Southern has moved past a rough outing against the wagon that is James Madison with consecutive wins. Last week they handled rivals Georgia State 44-27 with the explosive aerial assault we’ve grown used to.

Texas State is keeping up an impressive first season under HC GJ Kinne. They’re 5-3, and though recent losses to UL-Lafayette and Troy have made Sun Belt contention unlikely, they’re still on track for arguably their best season since moving up to the FBS ranks. Their Veer and Shoot offense has posted ridiculous numbers all season, turning QB TJ Finley and RB Ismail Mahdi into superstars.

We’ve got two fast-paced, super spread offenses and two sub-par defenses. There will be points.
