Mississippi State football in bowl projections after beating Arkansas
By Ethan Lee
As Zach Arnett and the Mississippi State football team try to make it back to a bowl game, here are where experts think the Bulldogs will land.
This Mississippi State football season isn’t going the direction that anyone really wanted, but that doesn’t mean it can’t end on a high note. Mississippi State is currently 4-3 on the year and 1-3 against SEC competition, but there are winnable opportunities up ahead. And that could very well lead to a bowl game for Zach Arnett and the Mississippi State Bulldogs.
While the Bulldogs went 9-4 a season ago, there were a ton of changes in the offseason. And that likely contributed to the Bulldogs’ sluggish start to the season. Unfortunately, we’re still seeing MSU be inconsistent and uninspiring.
But should the Bulldogs get at least a couple more wins, build some confidence and momentum, and get a chance at bowl practices and a bowl game, then we’ll feel a bit better about this season as we look back on it.
Mississippi State football bowl projections: Bulldogs have real shot at a bowl game after beating Arkansas Razorbacks
And right now, it really looks like the Miss. State football team will make it to a bowl game. In fact, a number of college football experts believe the Bulldogs will get a to a bowl game, even if it is a less than ideal sort of competition.
Here is where college football experts are projecting the Mississippi State Bulldogs to end up in the postseason:
- ESPN’s Kyle Bonagura – Mississippi State vs. Troy in the Birmingham Bowl
- USA Today’s Erick Smith – Mississippi State vs. Louisiana in the Frisco Bowl
- CBS Sports’ Jerry Palm – Mississippi State vs. South Alabama in the Boca Raton Bowl
- ESPN’s Marck Schlabach – Mississippi State vs. Tulane in the Birmingham Bowl
- Action Network’s Brett McMurphy – Mississippi State vs. Baylor in the Birmingham Bowl
Again, after winning nine games a season ago, any and all of these bowl games will seem like underachieving for MSU football fans. But right now, all the Bulldogs can hope to do is get some wins and get a bowl game. And that’s what matters right now. Should that happen, then maybe this season looks a little better as we look back on it.
