After taking care of business in Fayetteville, Arkansas, one college football expert is predicting the Mississippi State football team to face South Alabama in a bowl.

Zach Arnett and the Mississippi State football team have taken some meaningful steps to making it back to a bowl game this season after the Mississippi State Bulldogs beat the Arkansas Razorbacks on Saturday.

The Bulldogs still have plenty of work to do, but there’s a very real chance that this Miss. State football team could make it to a bowl game by the time this year is done. Mississippi State currently sits at 4-3 on the season and is 1-3 in SEC play, but there are still some noteworthy chances at wins left on this schedule.

Five games remain. The Bulldogs will meet a mess of an Auburn Tigers team this weekend. After that, MSU hosts the Kentucky Wildcats, who have looked vulnerable at times throughout the season up to this point. After that, State gets to go to play the Texas A&M Aggies, returns home to meet Southern Miss, and then faces Ole Miss in the Egg Bowl.

There are some chances for wins in there. And the Bulldogs only need two more wins to make it to a bowl game.

Mississippi State football bowl projections: College football expert puts Bulldogs in bowl game against South Alabama

If you ask CBS Sports college football expert Jerry Palm, Zach Arnett and the MSU Bulldogs will get to be in a bowl game this season.

According to Palm’s college football bowl predictions, it sure looks like Arnett and the Mississippi State Bulldogs will get a shot at facing off against the South Alabama Jaguars in the Boca Raton Bowl.

Which, you know, there are worse bowl destinations to play in. And while this isn’t a prestigious bowl game and the Bulldogs are fresh off of a 4-3 season, it’s still a bowl game. For a team that is able to take pride in the fact that it has played in 13-consecutive bowl games, this is still something to be proud of.

Mississippi State isn’t in a rebuilding year, but a bowl game would go a long way to helping the Bulldogs prepare for next season.
