Week 8 SEC Picks and College Football Best Bets

No. 13 Ole Miss (-6.5) @ Auburn (O/U 56.5)
Evan: The Plains are a weird place to play a football game. Almost guaranteed weird things to happen in these spots for Auburn. Tigers ML may honestly be the play here; Lane Kiffin may already be eyeing other jobs??? Just asking questions. Auburn +6.5
Justin: This one might be the most interesting game of the week in the SEC. You KNOW Freeze wants to win this game, but getting him to admit it just won’t happen. I thought Auburn could stay close enough to cover on the road last week against LSU and they let me down. Against my better judgment, I’m doing the same for them this week at home. Auburn +6.5
Ethan: I don’t trust Hugh Freeze and I don’t trust Auburn. They hurt my feelings last week and I’m thinking they’re going to hurt my feelings next week when the Bulldogs head that way. That’s beside the point. I suspect Freeze will be (very) interested in this game and it’s a home contest. Auburn hasn’t been consistent and I think their losing streak continues, but I think this Tigers team covers. Auburn +6.5
Andrew: I fully understand the history of this series. I also understand that Hugh Freeze will likely get this team up given his own personal desires to get back at Ole Miss. And we already saw Auburn play a much better team close at home vs UGA. But, y’all, Auburn cannot score points. Like at all. And if you think the Rebel defense is supposed to be the antidote to that, let me point out that literally the only thing Auburn does semi-decently on offense is run the ball, and the Ole Miss run defense has actually been good. Auburn’s own defense got exposed against LSU, and Kiffin will make sure they score plenty. Ole Miss -6.5
Ryan: Hugh Freeze wants this game more than any game on the schedule and no one can convince me otherwise but I think Ole Miss is just on too much of a roll right now. Auburn cannot score points and Ole Miss can score a bunch. Ole Miss will outgun Auburn over time and win pretty easily. Ole Miss -6.5
John: It’s been a couple of years, but Hugh Freeze finally gets another shot against his former team. Coaches facing their former teams always seem to get the most out of their roster in these games. Freeze doesn’t have the familiarity with the Ole Miss roster like he did before, but I still expect Auburn to keep this close. Auburn +6.5
