The Mississippi State football program landed a talented and intriguing dual threat quarterback commitment on Friday.

While things haven’t been going as expected for the Mississippi State football team so far this season, the Bulldogs did get some good news recently. That’s because they it looks like Mississippi State offensive coordinator Kevin Barbay went out and found a fascinating future quarterback for the Bulldogs.

On Friday, the Mississippi State football team earned a commitment from Macon, Mississippi’s very own KaMario Taylor. Taylor, a 6-foot-4, 180-pound quarterback (according to his recruiting profile on 247 Sports), is just a little ways down the road from Starkville playing football for Noxubee County High School.

At the moment, Taylor is rated as a three-star prospect and he is currently ranked one of the best players in the state of Mississippi for the 2025 recruiting cycle. He’s certainly a valuable addition to next year’s recruiting class for the Mississippi State football team.

Mississippi State football: Kevin Barbay gets fascinating quarterback to commit to the MSU Bulldogs 2025 recruiting class

As Barbay and Mississippi State alter the Bulldogs’ offense to be drastically different from the Air Raid (it’s a process that could take some time), it’ll be interesting to see how the Bulldogs recruit to Barbay’s pretty balanced, pro-spread system.

And while there have been issues with the execution of the offense so far at MSU, Barbay’s offense has been effective and thrilling to watch at other places he has coached. As he continues to shape what the offense looks like going forward, seeing Barbay pick a recruit who could very well be his quarterback for the future is a pretty interesting thing to see.

Of course, it shouldn’t come as any surprise that Barbay, the architect of the Bulldogs’ new offense, was listed as the primary recruiter for Taylor here. Barbay was also listed as the primary recruiter for Josh Flowers, Mississippi State’s talented quarterback commit for the 2024 recruiting class.

As Barbay continues to get more time and influence in leading the Bulldogs’ offense, and he continues to pick up the recruits who will operate it as MSU moves forward, it will be fascinating to see what this system looks like.

And again, it’s exciting to see the Bulldogs pick up a fascinating quarterback for the future.
