Week six of the 2023 college football season is upon us and our staff is ready to certainly get all of our picks right this week.
Water found its level for the M&W Nation staff last week, with no one able to break above .500, but we will be better! To prove our case, we have returned with another slate of seven college football games, including each SEC vs. SEC matchup, plus a couple of games from across the board that we thought were the most intriguing of the weekend. Cap that off with six Best Bets, and you have yourself a winning card! (We hope)
Ryan Strickland stays atop the standings at 11-5-1 through our two weeks of picks, I currently sit in second at 8-7-1, three guys at 6-9-1, and Mr. John King went 4-4 in his first week picking. Let’s get into our winners!
Week 6 College Football Picks and Weekend Best Bets
No. 23 LSU (-5.5) @ No. 21 Missouri (O/U 64.5)
Evan Ertel: I feel like Mizzou is being overlooked by everyone here. LSU’s defense looked really bad against Ole Miss, and I think QB Brady Cook is licking his chops at a chance to make things feel like 2014 again. If this game was in Baton Rouge, I might feel different, but it’s not, so I don’t. Missouri +5.5
Justin Strawn: I feel like this game is ripe for overreacting. Missouri has been better than people expected and LSU looked absolutely lost on defense. Missouri has earned enough to think they can at least cover but figuring out this game is tough. I’ll pick Missouri with the thought that if they don’t win, they at least keep it within a field goal. Missouri +5.5
Ethan Lee: LSU, like last season, sure seems to be a team of the extremes. The Tigers are either extremely competent and can be great, or they completely fall apart. Not much has apparently changed from a season ago. I think LSU will bounce back and hand Missouri its first loss of the year, but it’s closer than what Brian Kelly will want. Missouri +5.5
John King: Mizzou seems like a team that isn’t as good as their record might indicate. LSU has shown plenty of flaws, but this seems exactly like a game they would dominate. LSU -5.5
Andrew Miller: I feel like everyone is on Mizzou here, well besides John. But they’re the popular pick, and that makes me hate this. But at this point, it feels dumb to trust LSU to cover a 5.5-point spread on the road against a team that can sling it around. I’m terrified LSU rights the ship (or just wins by a TD). Missouri +5.5
Ryan Strickland: Everyone seems to be on Missouri. They can pass it and LSU had one of the worst defensive showings of all time last week in Oxford. I get why everyone is on them but I just can’t bring myself to pick Missouri to cover here. I think LSU has more talent in general and Missouri has not faced anyone with LSU-type talent yet. LSU -5.5
