Another week of SEC football and unfortunately another week where Mississippi State football sits at the bottom of the SEC Standings.
Saturday evening, Zach Arnett and the Mississippi State football team struggled mightily against the Alabama Crimson Tide. Which, to be completely honest, that’s to be expected for a team that’s had offensive line issues, quarterback inconsistency issues, issues generating pass rush, and secondary issues.
But now Mississippi State is off to an 0-3 start in SEC play for the first time in over a decade. The Bulldogs are struggling and are now firmly sitting at the bottom of the SEC West and are looking like one of the worst teams in the SEC.
As a first year head coach, Arnett has his work cut out for him. He’s got to find a way to start winning some SEC games. The Bulldogs racked up nine wins a season ago. To fall this far and to be situated at the bottom of the SEC standings isn’t going to be thrilling for MSU football fans.
SEC standings week 5: Mississippi State football crushed by Alabama Crimson Tide
Looking around the SEC, the Auburn Tigers found a way to challenge the Georgia Bulldogs. Lane Kiffin and his Ole Miss Rebels managed to upend the LSU Tigers in a fascinating game. Jimbo Fisher and the Texas A&M Aggies got a solid win over the Arkansas Razorbacks.
The Kentucky Wildcats are still unbeaten after handing Billy Napier and the Florida Gators yet another loss. Meanwhile, Josh Heupel’s Tennessee Volunteers solidly beat the South Carolina Gamecocks.
The SEC East race could get pretty interesting if Heupel and Tennessee (or Stoops and Kentucky) can mimic what Auburn did to Georgia. And in the SEC West, there’s plenty of chaos that will make things interesting for Nick Saban and Alabama.
