No. 3: Will Mississippi State football win an SEC game this season?

The 2023 Mississippi State football team is now 0-3 in SEC play. The Bulldogs have failed to play a complete game against any of their SEC opponents and it’s clear that there are some rather significant issues that the Bulldogs will need to address.

But can all of these problems really be fixed during the season?

It seems like many of the issues, especially the personnel and depth problems that the Bulldogs have on the defensive side of the ball, will have to be fixed in recruiting and in the transfer portal. Some of these problems probably can’t be schemed around.

But maybe they can. Maybe Mississippi State can get back in the win column a couple times in October and will be able to write off this early stretch of struggles as a bad time adjusting to a first time head coach, first time defensive coordinator, and a new offensive coordinator.

Maybe we’ll be able to look at these glaring issues and see how the Bulldogs overcame the various problems that they have right now.

Or maybe we’ll see some more uninspired and significantly concerning issues in Starkville going forward. The Bulldogs can’t pass up opportunities to challenge teams in the SEC West. And they can’t miss the future opportunities to compete in very winnable SEC games.
