College football schedule week 5: Boise State at Memphis

3:00 PM CT on ESPN2

Ok, the first two games I discussed I was trying to sell you on bad teams playing bad football resulting in a humorous and disgustingly entertaining watch. This is simply a good game between two of the G5’s better programs.

Boise got off to a slow start to 2023, getting lit up by Washington (Michael Penix just does that to teams) and losing a heartbreaker to UCF. But they’ve won their last two and look more like the team many anticipated going into the season. Memphis is actually playing better than we thought they would. The Tigers are 3-1 and just played a tight game with Missouri.

We have contrasting styles of offense in this one. Boise leans heavily on it’s rushing attack behind QB Taylen Green and RB Ashton Jeanty, who just went off for 205 yards against San Diego State. Memphis, meanwhile, is quite a bit more high-flying on offense. QB Seth Hennigan is throwing for 277 yards per game and already has eight touchdown passes

We could see a lot of points here. The Boise defense has given up a lot through the air, and the Memphis defense has been gashed on the ground the last two weeks. This should be a really fun game in the afternoon slate.

dark. Next. Is Mississippi State's defense broken?
