After two weeks of the 2023 Mississippi State football season and a win over the Arizona Wildcats, here’s where the Bulldogs are projected to go bowling.

The 2023 college football season keeps producing some rather interesting results. Unfortunately, the Mississippi State football game against the Arizona Wildcats ended up being a lot more interesting than many Miss. State football fans really wanted it to be.

The Wildcats were a tougher foe than some expected and they ended up being as volatile and dangerous as I was afraid of.

But still, Mississippi State got a win. Zach Arnett remains unbeaten as the head coach of the Miss. State football program. The Bulldogs are one win closer to making it into a bowl game. Technically, they’re one third of the way there.

Now, with two weeks of the season wrapped up, here’s where some college football experts are projecting the Bulldogs to land when college football bowl season arrives.

College football bowl projections, week 2: Where is Mississippi State football?

Let’s take a gander at some college football bowl projections. We’ll start with two predictions made by the folks over at ESPN:

ESPN college football bowl predictions week 2: Mississippi State Bulldogs bowl predictions

Last week, Kyle Bonagura had Arnett and the Mississippi State Bulldogs facing off against the Syracuse Orange in the Duke’s Mayo Bowl. That’s not a bad bowl destination, and it’s a bit better than the repeat of the 2021 AutoZone Liberty Bowl against the Texas Tech Red Raiders, which is where Mark Schlabach was predicting MSU to end up.

Get a glimpse at the updated ESPN college football bowl projections:

  • Bonagura: Duke’s Mayo Bowl – Mississippi State vs. Clemson
  • Schlabach: AutoZone Liberty Bowl – Mississippi State vs. Oklahoma State

Interestingly enough, the destinations that these two ended up predicting for this week didn’t change, but the opponents did. Again, the Duke’s Mayo Bowl is the better destination for the Bulldogs to end up in.

CBS college football bowl projection after week 2

Now on over to CBS to see Jerry Palm’s prediction. Last week, Palm predicted the Bulldogs to face the Minnesota Golden Gophers in the Birmingham Bowl. Another location and another bowl game that MSU fans really wouldn’t be thrilled about.

Take a look at the updated CBS bowl predictions:

  • Palm: Birmingham Bowl – Mississippi State vs. Kansas

Again, the destination didn’t change. Palm doesn’t seem to be much of a believer in the Bulldogs this season and he’s keeping MSU in Birmingham, but this prediction has State facing a Kansas Jayhawks team that is fascinating to face.

USA Today bowl prediction after week 2 of the Mississippi State football season

Let’s head on over to USA Today to see where Erick Smith has MSU. Last week, Smith predicted that the Bulldogs would go to the Birmingham Bowl to face the SMU Mustangs. I’m all for that matchup, but not in that location.

Here’s the updated USA Today Mississippi State bowl prediction:

  • Smith: Music City Bowl – Mississippi State vs. Minnesota

NASHVILLE! While the Music City Bowl isn’t the most prestigious bowl game ever, there are a number of MSU fans who would welcome this particular bowl game and matchup. And it’s one that would still be interesting.
