Mississippi State football reveals new field designs for 2023

The Mississippi State football subtle rebranding efforts are continuing in a not so subtle location. Scott Field is getting a facelift.

If you happen to watch any Mississippi State football games during the 2023 college football season, you’ll likely notice some new branding efforts here and there. There’s been a subtle push to redesign and rebrand slightly here and there and things are really about to take off.

If you happen to watch any of the eight home games during the 2023 Mississippi State football season, you’re going to see something very, very new. The folks behind maintaining Scott Field are breaking out something new that is sure to keep Mississippi State football fans excited for the foreseeable future.

This season, the 2023 MSU football season, Davis Wade Stadium at Scott Field will have a new centerpiece. The design on Scott Field is going to be a bit different. The logo is going to look pretty interesting.

Because this is how it looks now:

That “State” script logo is here to stay. We’ve seen it on uniforms. Now we’re seeing it on the playing surface the the Bulldogs. It’s a magnificent step forward as Mississippi State can envision a fascinating future that is not reliant solely upon the same group of old tropes that it’s used to using.

Innovation and changes are coming. And that’s exciting to see.

Sure, there are throwbacks and vintage things and such. And that’s good. It’s good to embrace parts of MSU’s history. But it’s also good to be willing to adapt and change and break out of the old mold that MSU gets trapped in. Use the parts of Mississippi State’s past branding that are exciting and incorporate them in new ways.

And this new field design does a good job of innovating and building upon elements of MSU’s past.
