We’ve got a depth chart! And we’ve got expectations! The Mississippi State Bulldogs will play football in just a few days!

One of the worst things about the offseason is the way we all lose our minds about what expectations should be for the Mississippi State Bulldogs. Outside media tends to forget about what the Bulldogs have accomplished. State-adjacent media oftentimes attempts to erase reasons for reasonable doubts and concerns.

And entering into the 2023 Mississippi State football season, setting realistic expectations is DIFFICULT.

There’s been a lot of change! And as much as folks like to say that all of that change has been for good, there are a lot of unknowns. Now, that said, there’s still a lot of stability within this program. And a lot of carryover from last season’s nine win team. And that’s something that folks outside of Starkville seem to forget, somehow.

So I don’t know what is reasonable or realistic. But that’s what Justin Strawn is here for.

In other news: The Houston Astros, Texas Rangers, and Seattle Mariners are in a fascinating race for the AL West right now. Just look at this:

All three teams have a ton of talent. All three teams have a ton of potential. Only one team can win the AL West. This race to the finish is going to be THRILLING (and also probably agonizing). I mean, this would be like if Mississippi State, LSU, and Alabama all entered into November with just one loss (almost certainly not happening this year, but you get the idea) and were trying to win the SEC West. Nail biting time, folks.
