The start of the college football season is upon us and that means we get the start of the 2023 Mississippi State football schedule. And that means I have more questions.

Look, you can’t assume that I only had six questions ahead of the 2023 Mississippi State football season. I have a lot of questions about the Bulldogs. And that includes questions about the offense and defense and special teams and even the 2023 Mississippi State football schedule.

Yep.

I’ve got questions about the schedule and the foes that MSU will face and so on and so forth. There’s a good chance that I ask a lot of questions. Many of which are nonsensical. But, well, there’s a lot of them.

So, here are more questions I’d like to see answered. This time let’s think about the 2023 Mississippi state football schedule and questions adjacent to that.

2023 Mississippi State football schedule: Eight questions about MSU Bulldogs’ schedule in 2023

Here are more questions:

  1. Will Mississippi State pull off any surprise upsets this season?
  2. Can we please find a way to beat Kentucky?
  3. Can we please find a way to continue beating Texas A&M?
  4. Can MSU match last season’s regular season win total of 8 wins?
  5. Will Mississippi State’s bowl streak continue?
  6. If Mississippi State struggles early on, how will MSU fans react?
  7. If Mississippi State overachieves early on, how will media members react?
  8. Can the Bulldogs beat Ole Miss two seasons in a row?

Let’s go over some of these questions.

Hey, you know what’d be real nice? To see the Egg stay in Starkville. And so, another Mississippi State football win over the Ole Miss Rebels? That’d be real nice. I’d like that. We should have that. Let’s do it again this season, shall we?

Zach Arnett, when he was the defensive coordinator, was largely responsible for helping the Bulldogs effectively shut down Lane Kiffin’s offense last season and Mississippi State got a memorable win over the Rebels.

I want more of that. Let’s get more of that. Will we see that? I don’t know.

What about beating Kentucky? Or Texas A&M? Both the Wildcats and the Aggies could be improved this coming season. Or maybe they’re both mediocre and fall back a bit. The latter would be nice. Or the former is fine as long as Mississippi State gets wins over UK and A&M. I’d like to see wins in those games.

And I’d be cool with eight regular season wins. I’d like more victories than just that, but I’d be happy with eight wins.

And a bowl win. I want a bowl appearance and a bowl win.

As for meeting expectations, I don’t know what to expect, and I suspect that nobody else really does either. It’s important to be honest here and acknowledge that a lot of things have changed from last season. While there’s some impressive continuity, there’s still a first time head coach, a first year under a new offensive coordinator, and a first year defensive coordinator. So, I don’t know about expectations or overachieving or underachieving.

And I have questions. I’d like those questions answered. We’ll see if, or when, those answers come.
