Mississippi State football has never played these Big 10 teams

The Rutgers Scarlet Knights are an overlooked program that Mississippi State football hasn’t met yet
One of the newest members of the Big Ten, Rutgers doesn’t exactly have a ton of prestige as a program right now. College football isn’t as big in New Jersey as it once was (or currently is in places like much of the Midwest or the South), but the Scarlet Knights were one of the very first teams to play college football.
There’s a lot of history there!
Unfortunately for Rutgers football fans, recent history hasn’t been as kind to the Scarlet Knights as the first years of college football was. And life in the Big Ten has been tough to watch for Rutgers fans.
Greg Schiano returned to Rutgers a little while back to be the head coach for the Scarlet Knights (again). Right now, Schiano is hoping to elevate the Scarlet Knights out of the Big Ten’s cellar and into a competent, bowl contending team.
The last time Rutgers even made a bowl was back in 2021 and the last time the Scarlet Knights happened to win a bowl game was all the way back in 2014.
Things have been rough for Rutgers!
Mississippi State football fans are familiar with dreadful losses and deflating experiences, but Rutgers is really having a rough time. It seems unlikely that these two teams will meet any time soon with the most likely method of that game being scheduled being a bowl game. So, maybe some day?
