2023 Mississippi State football schedule: When is MSU vs. LSU Tigers?
By Ethan Lee
Looking to pull off an SEC West upset, the MSU Bulldogs will welcome the LSU Tigers to Starkville for the 3rd game of the 2023 Mississippi State football schedule.
After fumbling away opportunities on the road in Death Valley down in Baton Rouge, Louisiana last season, the Bulldogs will welcome the LSU Tigers to Davis Wade Stadium for the third game of the 2023 Mississippi State football schedule.
This early season SEC West clash is currently slated to take place on Saturday, September 16 as the Bulldogs host the Tigers in Davis Wade Stadium at Scott Field. This will be the third home game of 2023 for Zach Arnett and the Bulldogs and comes after MSU faces off against the Arizona Wildcats.
Of course, it is worth noting that this MSU – LSU matchup is getting an early kickoff. Rather than take place at night for an SEC West contest, this particular meeting will be at 11 a.m. CT (for some reason).
2023 Mississippi State football schedule: Bulldogs vs. LSU Tigers
- Who: Mississippi State Bulldogs, coached by Zach Arnett, vs. the LSU Tigers, coached by Brian Kelly
- What: Third game of MSU’s 2023 season
- When: Saturday, September 16 at 11 a.m. CT
- Where: Davis Wade Stadium at Scott Field in Starkville, Mississippi
This match up takes place the week before the Bulldogs hit the road for the first time as they get to host the Tigers before roaming over to Columbia, South Carolina to face Shane Beamer and the South Carolina Gamecocks.
So, for those keeping track at home, MSU starts the season with the Southeastern Louisiana Lions, hosts the Arizona Wildcats, and then gets the LSU Tigers.
It’s fair to say that things get progressively more difficult as the weeks go on through the first quarter of the 2023 Mississippi State football schedule. Hopefully the Bulldogs will emerge victorious in at least two of those contests (though winning all three sure would be nice).
Brian Kelly and his first LSU Tigers team had a lot of fun and found a lot of success in 2022. After winning the SEC West, they’ll be looking to continue to thrive. Meanwhile, MSU is trying to elevate itself out of the SEC’s middle class. At the very least, the Bulldogs are trying to ensure they don’t stumble below the middle class.
And a shocking win over what is likely to be an improving LSU Tigers team would go a long way towards helping with that.
