Zach Arnett sought out Kevin Barbay to be the next great offensive mind for Mississippi State football. How much does the Bulldogs’ offensive coordinator get paid?

With the start of the Zach Arnett era of Mississippi State football, the Bulldogs have made the decision to make some changes on the offensive side of the ball and make some philosophical moves away from the Air Raid. With that decision came the decision to bring in Kevin Barbay.

Barbay is the new offensive coordinator for the Mississippi State Bulldogs. Hailing from East Texas, Barbay played quarterback in college and then jumped into coaching after his playing career came to an end.

And after some years at several stops, Barbay has made his way to Starkville and could be bringing some notable innovation to the Bulldogs’ offense. While many are sad to see State move away from the Air Raid, landing someone like Barbay could help MSU find new ways to win. and State is paying him a pretty solid salary.

Mississippi State football coach contract: How much is Bulldogs’ offensive coordinator Kevin Barbay paid?

Heading into his first year as the offensive coordinator for the Mississippi State Bulldogs, Barbay is being paid $900,000. That’s a pretty good salary for a 40-year-old offensive coordinator.

The Bulldogs are hoping that wins will come with Barbay’s offensive schemes. Some of Barbay’s background comes under Jim McElwain, who has been able to find success with a more conventional spread offense and a strong, consistent running game.

Which, it’s worth noting that this is notably different from what the Bulldogs have run in recent years. Barbay was most recently at Appalachian State and his offense was pretty exciting to watch at times there.

And should the Bulldogs find ways to win with Barbay’s offense, then you can expect to see plenty of buzz and excitement surrounding MSU’s offensive coordinator’s name. And with that should come a raise or two.
