We’ve got games and times and events and fun for the 2023 SEC Network Takeover. Here’s what the schedule looks like for the Mississippi State Bulldogs.
It’s that time of year again. We’ve got the SEC Network Takeover upon us. And that means we get to watch a bunch of content 24 hours a day, seven days a week over a span of two weeks. Or we can just focus in on what really matters and watch specific events and specific teams as we can afford to do so.
Because, well, at a younger time in my life, I attempted to pull off a 24-hour live blogging run with the SEC Network Takeover. It was great. I can’t do that anymore. I actually got very ill last time I tried it.
But that’s why we have DVRs and on demand streaming and schedules. Like this schedule right here.
2023 Mississippi State Bulldogs SEC Network Takeover schedule
Here’s how things shake out for the Mississippi State Bulldogs with the 2023 SEC Network Takeover (all times being in Central Time).
- 11 p.m. (July 8) – Mississippi State volleyball vs. No. 23 Arkansas Razorbacks
- 1 a.m. (July 9) – Mississippi State men’s basketball vs. Ole Miss Rebels
- 3 a.m. – Banner Year: The Story of Mississippi State’s First National Title
- 4 a.m. – South Carolina Gamecocks vs. Mississippi State softball
- 6 a.m. – Tennessee Lady Vols vs. Mississippi State women’s basketball
- 8 a.m. – No. 22 Mississippi State football vs. Illinois Fighting Illini
- 11 a.m. – Texas A&M Aggies vs. Mississippi State women’s soccer (First Round)
- 1 p.m. – Ole Miss Rebels vs. Mississippi State baseball
- 4 p.m. – No. 11 Mississippi State women’s basketball vs. No. 6 Creighton Bluejays
- 6 p.m. – No. 11 TCU Horned Frogs vs. Mississippi State men’s basketball
- 8 p.m. – Mississippi State football vs. No. 20 Ole Miss Rebels
It appears as if the Bulldogs are taking the “showcase the entirety of the athletic department and its highlights from the past season” approach. It’s not inherently a bad approach, but some would prefer to see more of certain specific sports rather than a generalist approach such as this.
If you need a sport by sport breakdown, here you go. Here are the various teams being shown off and the number of their respective events being shown:
- Football: two
- Women’s basketball: two
- Men’s basketball: two
- Volleyball: one
- Baseball: one game and one documentary
- Women’s soccer: one
- Softball: one
It’s not a bad way to highlight everything. It’s certainly better to show actual events than the mini event documentaries that other schools like to try and showcase.
What events are you most looking forward to? How do you feel about Mississippi State’s approach this year? Would you like to see some other strategy taken with the SEC Network Takeover going forward?
