Mississippi State baseball: Dakota Jordan exits transfer portal
By Ethan Lee
Well, after a brief and bizarre transfer portal stint, it looks like Dakota Jordan will be sticking around in Starkville to play for the Mississippi State baseball team.
Dakota Jordan is back! The young Mississippi State baseball star has decided to stick around in Starkville after he entered the transfer portal and confused a great number of Mississippi State baseball fans.
But, well, he’s back.
The past 24 hours have been admittedly pretty weird. It seemed like Jordan was bound to leave the Bulldogs for another program. Thankfully, however, he has chosen to play for Chris Lemonis and the Bulldogs as MSU heads into next season.
Getting Jordan to stay at Mississippi State should help the Bulldogs as they try to rebuild the once proud program that has struggled in recent years.
Mississippi State baseball: Dakota Jordan to remain in Starkville after transfer portal entrance
During his freshman year, Jordan captured a lot of attention and hype as he showed plenty of potential and promise. Through the 2022 season, Jordan had several big moments and showed that he can be a phenomenally talented star who will only continue to get even better and more productive as he continues to develop.
As a freshman, Jordan boasted a .307 batting average and crushed 10 home runs. He did strike out 46 times, which was third-highest on the 2023 Mississippi State baseball team, but the Bulldogs definitely benefitted from getting Jordan as much playing time as possible.
And it’s great that he’s set to return to Starkville for more time playing for the Bulldogs.
Mississippi State just found its next pitching coach in Justin Parker. While Chris Lemonis still needs to go out and bring in some more talent through the transfer portal, it’s important to retain young, talented stars like Jordan.
And somehow Lemonis and the Bulldogs did just that.
The Mississippi State baseball program has a long ways to go for the Bulldogs to be considered “back,” but getting guys like Jordan to stick around in Starkville as they continue to develop and crush home runs is a good step in the right direction for MSU.
