The Mississippi State Football team could see their former cornerback, Emmanuel Forbes, go in the first round of tonight’s 2023 NFL Draft.

Mississippi State football finished the 2022 college football season 8-4 and all four of Mississippi State’s losses could not be blamed on the defense. Much of that had to do with Emmanuel Forbes’ lockdown coverage in the secondary.

Most SEC teams’ offenses this season would not even look Emmanuel Forbes’ way. This says a lot about his coverage, and his ability to pick the ball off.

Emmanuel Forbes holds the SEC career record for most pick-sixes by any player. What an accomplishment.

Forbes would find himself on the semifinalist Jim Thorpe award list, and many analysts and fans thought he would be a shoo-in for the winner of the award. The Mississippi State Football corner fell just short of the award for the best cornerback in college football.

Emmanuel Forbes finished the 2022 college football season with 6 interceptions, 15 passes defended, and 3 pick-sixes.

One of the latest NFL mock drafts has the former Mississippi State cornerback, Emmanuel Forbes, headed to the Washington Commanders in the overall 16th pick.

This would be the second year in a row that Mississippi State Football had a player selected in the first round of the NFL Draft.

Emmanuel Forbes was arguably the best cornerback in all of college football last year despite being robbed of the Jim Thorpe Award.

Another mock draft has Forbes as the 25th overall pick headed to the New York Giants.

No matter where the former Mississippi State Bulldog ends up, he knows that Mississippi State Football fans across the country will be anticipating his call on Thursday night.

Hearing your name called on night one of the NFL Draft is a huge accomplishment, and Emmanuel Forbes has earned every bit of it.

Here at Maroon and White Nation, we are proud of you, Emmanuel Forbes.
