The Mississippi State baseball team defeated the South Carolina Gamecocks in Game Two on Friday night. The Diamond Dawgs lost game one of this weekend’s series by a score of 6-4, and the Dawgs won tonight’s, 13-3 (7).

Mississippi State had to win tonight to have a shot at taking the series from the No. 9 team in the nation, the South Carolina Gamecocks.

Tomorrow’s game (rubber match) will have its first pitch at 2:00 p.m. CT/3:00 p.m. ET.

Here are my early post-game thoughts:

Dakota Jordan’s ball has to “pay rent” after hitting the Lofts at Mississippi State’s Dudy Noble Field.

In the bottom of the 3rd inning, Dakota Jordan hit a ball to the Left Field Lofts at Dudy Noble Field that was an absolute jack of a homerun.

When this Mississippi State baseball team gets going at the plate, they are pretty fun to watch. This homer was hit right after Hunter Hines hit a bomb to right field.

Colton Ledbetter’s save was one of the most impressive plays the Diamond Dawgs have had this season.

Colton Ledbetter robbed one of the South Carolina Gamecock’s homeruns in the top of 5th inning. Not only did it save a run, but it saved the Gamecocks from grabbing momentum in the game.

South Carolina went on to grab a couple of runs in the 5th inning, but it could have been much worse without the save from Ledbetter.

Mississippi State Baseball could really turn around its season with a win tomorrow.

Not only was tonight’s win necessary because the Diamond Dawgs had not won an SEC game this season, but it was important because they have a shot at taking the series win from the No. 9 team in the nation.

The Mississippi State Bulldogs will take on the South Carolina Gamecocks in the rubber match of this weekend’s series tomorrow at 2:00 p.m.
