The Mississippi State baseball team is back in the win column after dominating the University of Louisiana Monroe Warhawks on Wednesday night, 14-3. Many people and fans place too much emphasis on midweek games of the college baseball season, but there are a few things we can take away from this new team.

Here are my early post-game thoughts:

It is always good to get back on track.

The beginning of college baseball season is one of those things when you have to remind yourself that the 2023 college baseball season just started, and this team is continuing to figure things out.

Now, being in the win column is always important. Seeing your batts do what they did is even more important.

This Mississippi State baseball team has some hot batts.

Through the first five games of the 2023 college baseball season, we have seen the Mississippi State baseball team struggle at the mound. When it comes to batting, they have not struggled too much. Last night was no different. The Diamond Dawgs’ batts were on fire, and the Mississippi State baseball racked up fourteen runs to come across home plate.

The Mississippi State baseball team finished with twelve hits last night vs. the University of Louisiana Monroe Warhawks. The previous night, the Diamond Dawgs only finished with six hits. I expect the Diamond Dawgs to rely on their batts in key games this 2023 season.

I am an Amani Larry fan.

Amani Larry had three at batts yesterday, and one of them was a homerun bomb. Larry is a transfer out of New Orleans, Louisiana, and he kicks off the batting order now. I expect Chris Lemonis to keep Larry in that position for the rest of the season. Lookout SEC, Amani Larry plans to reach base all the time, or he plans to knock one out of the park.
