Houston football’s coaching staff honors former Mississippi State football head coach, Mike Leach.

On the night of December 11th, Mike Leach was airlifted to the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi. Mississippi State Football Head Coach, Mike Leach, passed away at 61 due to heart complications on December 12, 2022.

First, we at Maroon and White Nation want the Leach family to know that our thoughts and prayers are with them. Sharon, Cody, Kiersten, Kim, and Janeen Leach, we are praying for your family during this difficult season.

This past week, Mississippi State held a memorial service for Coach Mike Leach, and many coaches, players, and fans showed up to remember the life of Michael Charles Leach.

College football fans around the world are having some of the same thoughts as the Mississippi State Bulldog family. He was a blessing to the college football world, and it will not be the same without the Pirate standing on the sidelines in his black “STATE” sweatshirt.

Well, the college football world honored Mike Leach today in the Independence Bowl.

Today the Houston Cougars faced off against the Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns in the Independence Bowl.

As the Houston Cougars were running out of the tunnel to come to warm up before the Independence Bowl started, social media noticed that the Houston Cougars’ coaching staff were wearing the same “STATE” sweatshirt that Mike Leach would wear during Mississippi State football games.

Writing from a Mississippi State fan’s mind, it warms my heart to see the college football world honoring our former coach.

It has been a rough couple of weeks with the loss of Coach Mike Leach, and it is days like today where I realize the true impact that Leach left on this game.

Houston Football’s Twitter account tweeted that they were “honoring a legend.”
