Mississippi State Football: SEC bowl games predictions and odds

The Mississippi State football team will face off against the Illinois Fighting Illini in the ReliaQuest Bowl on January 2nd, 2023.

My father played a large role in my addiction to college football and the Mississippi State football team. I have grown up watching, listening to, and traveling to SEC games all over the country with him. One of the conversations we tend to always have before the weekend is the betting lines. Now hear me out… We don’t actually place any bets, but we do seem to know how the games will end up. Every week, my dad and I will call each other to pick the SEC lines of the week.

Before rivalry week kicks off, be sure to check out our picks. I am not saying that we’re always correct, but I am saying that we are usually close. We typically pick the Mississippi State Bulldogs no matter who they are playing so you might not want to use our advice in that game. The lines that we base our picks off of are found at FanDuel.com. Game odds refresh periodically and are subject to change.

During bowl season, we will only pick winners and losers.

Las Vegas Bowl – Florida vs. No. 14 Oregon State

Dad: I don’t have a lot of faith in Florida… I’ll take Oregon State.

Landon: I’ll take Napier and the Gators.

Gasparilla Bowl – Wake Forest vs. Missouri

Dad: I’ll go with Missouri.

Landon: I like Missouri because of their momentum going into this.

Texas Bowl – Texas Tech vs. Ole Miss

Dad: Give me the RED RAIDERS… Just kidding. I think Ole Miss will win.

Landon: Give me Tech.

Gator Bowl – No. 21 Notre Dame vs. No. 19 South Carolina

Dad: Give me South Carolina.

Landon: South Carolina might be the hottest team in the country right now. Give me the Gamecocks.

Orange Bowl – No. 6 Tennessee vs. No. 7 Clemson

Dad: I like Clemson in this one because of the quarterback situation.

Landon: Wow, this game is orange. I think Tennessee pulls it out even without Hendon Hooker.

Sugar Bowl – No. 5 Alabama vs. No. 9 Kansas State

Dad: I’m going to pick Bama just because I can’t pick against them.

Landon: Due to history, I’m picking Kansas State to pull off the upset.

Music City Bowl – Iowa vs. Kentucky

Dad: I’ll go with Iowa because I’m not high on Kentucky.

Landon: I like the Wildcats because Iowa hasn’t produced on offense much this season.

Peach Bowl – No. 4 Ohio State vs. No. 1 Georgia

Dad: Georgia.

Landon: I like Georgia to play in the national championship again.

Citrus Bowl – No. 17 LSU vs. Purdue

Dad: I’m going to pick LSU even though I’m not sure about that.

Landon: Brian Kelly closes the year out with a win.

ReliaQuest Bowl – No. 22 Mississippi State vs. Illinois

Dad: Give me them Dawgs! Mississippi State wins 52-24.

Landon: For the pirate, 42-21.
