The Mississippi State football team is back again for another home game in Davis Wade Stadium to face off against the Buccaneers of East Tennessee. The Mississippi State football team is now 6-4 in the 2022 season and 3-4 in the SEC after defeating the Texas A&M Aggies, Arkansas Razorbacks, and Auburn Tigers. Today, the Mississippi State Bulldogs’ attention is focused on the East Tennessee State Buccaneers.

The Mississippi State Bulldogs look to find their offensive momentum after struggling to put the ball in the endzone last Saturday vs. the Georgia Bulldogs. Mike Leach and the Mississippi State football want to get as many reps in as possible today before traveling to Oxford, Mississippi next Thursday night.

This will be the 2nd ever meeting between the Bulldogs and the East Tennessee State Buccaneers. In 1998, the Mississippi State Bulldogs and the East Tennessee State Buccaneers faced off, and the Bulldogs won 53-6 in Starkville. Today’s game will be played at Davis Wade Stadium in Starkville, Mississippi.

The East Tennessee State Buccaneers are 3-7 with wins over Mars Hill, Robert Morris University, and the Virginia Military Institute Keydets. One of the Buccaneers’ most memorable wins was last year when they upset the Vanderbilt Commodores, 23-3.

The East Tennessee State Buccaneers have losses against Citadel, Furman, Chattanooga, Mercer, Samford, Wofford, and Western Carolina. In many of the East Tennessee State Buccaneers’ wins and losses, they have scored more than 40 points. In a loss to the Wofford Terriers, the East Tennessee State Buccaneers put up 245 rushing yards and lost, 41-48. Expect the Bulldog defense to come in prepared to stop the Buccaneer rushing attack.
