The Mississippi State basketball team tips off the 2022-2023 season tonight at 6:30 p.m. New head coach, Chris Jans is set to begin his tenure here at Mississippi State University. The Bulldogs will face off against the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Islanders. Tonight’s game will be played in Starkville, Mississippi at the Humphrey Coliseum.

Mississippi State basketball has a history of producing good teams, but in recent years, they have struggled. With the new hire of Chris Jans, Bulldog fans are expectant this season. I’m not saying everyone thinks we’re headed to the sweet sixteen, but we expect this year’s basketball team to look different than Ben Howland’s teams.

The Humphrey Coliseum has undergone a few renovations and is still not fully complete. Expect all of the Hump’s renovations to be finished by the start of next year’s season.

Last year, the Mississippi State basketball team finished with an overall record of 18-16. The Bulldogs were 8-10 in the southeastern conference and finished 10th in the SEC final rankings. One stat that really sticks out is last year’s team was 14-3 at home, but on the road, the Bulldogs finished 1-10. Chris Jans’ 2022-2023 team looks to turn things around.

Tonight the Mississippi State basketball team is a -14.5 point favorite according to FanDuel.com. Game odds refresh periodically and are subject to change.
