Last Saturday night, following Mississippi State football’s Alabama loss, Mike Leach met with the media. To no one’s surprise, Leach had a lot to say. Many times, head coach Mike Leach goes on rants about God knows what, but Saturday night’s response was really off the wall.

The Mississippi State football team lost to the Alabama Crimson Tide by a score of 30-6. Those six points that the Alabama Crimson Tide allowed came with no time left on the clock. The Mississippi State Bulldogs struggled to move the ball on the Crimson Tide all night long. One of the key issues was the Mississippi State wide receivers dropping passes from quarterback, Will Rogers.

Throughout the 2022 Mississippi State football season, many people have criticized junior quarterback, Will Rogers III, but on Saturday night in Tuscaloosa, he was not to blame. Rogers seemed to get off to a good start. On the second drive of the game, he and the rushing attack led the Bulldogs inside the Alabama 30-yard line. The Bulldogs decided to go for it on 4th and 2, and wide receiver Jaden Walley dropped a pass that would have resulted in a first down.

Look, I’m not placing the blame for Saturday night’s loss on Jaden Walley either because his dropped pass was the first of eleven from the Bulldogs’ wide receivers. Will Rogers finished the night 30/60 passing for 231 yards and no touchdowns. If I had to guess, he might have broken 350 yards if the Mississippi State wide receivers had caught the eleven dropped balls.

When the game had concluded and it was time for Mike Leach’s post-game press conference, it was obvious that he would get a question from the media regarding all of the dropped passes. He did, in fact, have a question come his way about the wide receivers, but his response was wild. Check this out.

The Mississippi State media had their thoughts about it as well.
