The 2022 Mississippi State football team is now 5-3 after their most recent loss to the Alabama Crimson Tide, 30-6. The Mississippi State Bulldogs have wins over Memphis, Arizona, Bowling Green, Texas A&M, and Arkansas which make up their 5 wins in the win column. The Bulldogs’ losses come from playing on the road in all three games vs. LSU, Kentucky, and Alabama. The Mississippi State Bulldogs are now entering their bye week with a chance to have a really solid end to their 2022 football season.

The Mississippi State football team has four games left on their schedule. Next week, the Bulldogs will host the Auburn Tigers in Davis Wade Stadium in a game that favors the Bulldogs. The following week the No. 1 team in the nation comes to town when the Georgia Bulldogs enter Starkville, Mississippi. The week after Georgia, Mississippi State will host East Tennessee State University before heading on the road to face off against the Rebels of Ole Miss.

These last four games don’t have any implications on championships, but they sure do have some implications on the fanbase of Mississippi State, Mike Leach, and the momentum going into 2023. It’s important to remember that the Bulldogs are exactly where many people thought they would be at this point in the season, and they have a chance to finish strong.

The key to finishing strong is winning on Thanksgiving night in Oxford, Mississippi. Mike Leach has yet to win an Egg Bowl as the Mississippi State head coach, and he desperately needs to win this year. We discuss everything listed above on this week’s episode of ‘Cowbell Off Campus.’

‘Cowbell Off Campus’ hosts, Landon Young and Addison Thigpen discuss what the 2022 Mississippi State football team has done through the first 8 games of the season and look ahead to how they could make the last 4 games of the season something special. They finish today’s podcast by picking the SEC line for week 9 of college football and answering your Twitter questions.
