The Mississippi State Bulldogs are headed to Lexington, Kentucky this weekend to face off against the Kentucky Wildcats. The Mississippi State football team is now 2-1 in the SEC after defeating the Arkansas Razorbacks last Saturday. The Bulldogs defeated the Razorbacks, 40-17. Today, the Mississippi State Bulldogs’ attention is focused on the Wildcats.

The Mississippi State Bulldogs look to carry over the balanced offensive attack that took place last Saturday vs. the Razorbacks with 173 rushing yards and 395 passing yards. Mike Leach’s Bulldogs rushed for more yards last week than any game in his tenure at Mississippi State.

This will be the 50th meeting between the Bulldogs and the Wildcats. Mike Leach is 1-1 vs. the Kentucky Wildcats in his tenure at Mississippi State. Last year, when the Mississippi State Bulldogs and the Kentucky Wildcats faced off, the Bulldogs played one of their best games of 2021 and won 31-17 at Davis Wade Stadium in Starkville, Mississippi. Today’s game will be played at Kroger Field in Lexington, Kentucky.

The Kentucky Wildcats are 4-2 with losses against the Ole Miss Rebels and the South Carolina Gamecocks. Last week, the Wildcats dropped a game to the South Carolina Gamecocks that many thought they would win handily. The Wildcats fell short, 24-14, but they were without their starting quarterback, Will Levis.

The Wildcats defeated the Florida Gators in the second week of the college football season. This is definitely the biggest win of the Wildcats’ 2022 season.  That being said, the Florida Gators haven’t done much this season to be recognized as a powerhouse. Kentucky’s close loss vs. the Ole Miss Rebels may be their most telling game of this season.
