The 2022 Mississippi State football team handled the Texas A&M Aggies Saturday, 42-24.

The Mississippi State Bulldogs were back home today at Davis Wade Stadium in Starkville, Mississippi. The Mississippi State football game kicked off at 3:00 p.m. CT. The Bulldogs seemed to struggle to find a rhythm in the first quarter, but for the next three quarters, it was all Bulldogs.

Here are my “next morning” post-game thoughts:

Mississippi State needs to pay defensive coordinator, Zach Arnett.

Look, I know Texas A&M’s offense is not hitting on all cylinders at this point in the season, but the Mississippi State defense was playing to the ball on Saturday afternoon vs. the Aggies. Zach Arnett will be why the Mississippi State football team wins many games this season. The Bulldogs have to find a way to keep this man in Starkville, Mississippi.

This team can compete with anyone this season.

Again, I know I’m a little too excited after beating the Texas A&M Aggies, but that’s a No. 1 recruiting class the Bulldogs just handled. Something isn’t clicking for the Aggies right now, but our three and four-star recruits dominated their five-star recruits. These guys can play with anyone in the country as long as their confident they can beat the guy they line up against. Also known as not letting the sticker on the helmet adjust how the Bulldogs play football that day.

Bulldog fans have never seen a wide receiver group this talented.

Rara Thomas. Caleb Ducking. Tulu Griffin. Zavion Thomas. Justin Robinson. Jaden Walley. Austin Williams. Antonio Harmon. Those are just the guys I could think of off the top of my head. I’m probably forgetting a few who played well on Saturday.

Will Rogers has another great day through the air.

Will Rogers III can toss the football. He is, in fact, not just a dink and dunk quarterback. Every week Rogers gets better and better at finding the guy that’s open. Sure, he is going to make some mistakes. What quarterback wouldn’t if they threw the ball 40+ times a game? Also, his ability to find receivers in the red zone has grown. Our red zone offense has changed from last year because Will Rogers is becoming an elite SEC quarterback.

The run game will win games for the Bulldogs.

Dillon Johnson. Jo’quavious Marks. Simeon Price. These three running backs can create an offense that Mike Leach hasn’t ever been able to run. Mike Leach is working with the most talent he’s ever had on the depth chart, and he will be able to find the endzone more and more because of the running game. It truly opens up everything.
