Mississippi State Football vs Auburn

Mississippi State hasn’t had much success against Auburn in recent years. The Bulldogs were beaten like a drum by the Tigers last year and, well, things weren’t any better back in 2016. But, things could possibly be different in 2018.

The Mississippi State football team is a group that is on the rise and looking to climb in the Southeastern Conference hierarchy. The Bulldogs are looking to get revenge against teams that smacked them around last season and this Auburn game is a great chance for that.

However, this is certainly one of the most difficult games for MSU in 2018.

The Bulldogs will be fresh off of an emotional game against Dan Mullen and the Florida Gators. Even if MSU is better than Auburn, it will probably be pretty difficult to immediately turn around and get fully ready for a game against Auburn after facing your former head coach and his brand new team.

Luckily, State gets to host Auburn in Starkville this year. Mississippi State should be 5-0 by the time that they get to the Tigers and momentum should certainly be there for Joe Moorhead’s team.

That doesn’t mean that this game will be easy though.

ESPN’s Football Power Index is giving MSU a 42.1 percent chance to win this game. This is one of only two games where ESPN’s FPI does not favor MSU this season.
