The Mississippi State baseball team knocks down Vanderbilt thanks to Elijah MacNamee

Mississippi State baseball survives again! The Bulldogs are still alive and are thriving thanks to Elijah MacNamee’s incredible success tonight. When the Mississippi State baseball team needed MacNamee the most, he came up in the biggest moments, proving himself again and again for the Maroon and White.

The Bulldogs won 10-8 thanks to MacNamee’s walk-off home run in the bottom of the 9th inning.

Mississippi State and Vanderbilt battled back and forth all night. When the Bulldogs took a lead, Vanderbilt came in and tied them. The Commodores held on tight for most of the evening and never let MSU get away from them. That is right up until the final inning ended.

In the bottom of the 2nd inning, Mississippi State claimed a 2-0 lead. Vanderbilt turned right around and placed two runs on the board in the top of the 3rd inning.

In response to that, the Bulldogs tacked on 5 runs in the bottom of the 3rd inning and held onto a 7-2 lead over the Commodores for a little bit. Elijah MacNamee hit his first home run of the day, a three-run shot, to push MSU out ahead and expand the lead.

But, in the top of the 5th inning, Vanderbilt took advantage of Mississippi State baseball mistakes to tie things up at 7-7. And when MSU reclaimed a lead in the bottom of the 8th, Vanderbilt tied things up thanks to more Mississippi State mistakes in the top of the 9th.
