What Did Joe Moorhead Say About Nick Fitzgerald Winning The Heisman?

In an interview with Mississippi State digital media reporter Bob Carskadon, Nick Fitzgerald revealed that Joe Moorhead reached out to him shortly after he was hired. Moorhead reportedly told Fitzgerald that he intended to get the SEC Championship for MSU in 2018. In addition to that, Moorhead intends to get Fitzgerald a Heisman.

Based off of the numbers that Moorhead’s previous quarterback Trace McSorley put up over the past few seasons, this could be very possible.

In the past two seasons with Moorhead leading Penn State’s offense, McSorley totaled 7184 yards and scored 57 touchdowns through the air. On the ground, McSorley has 856 yards and 18 touchdowns. And, under Moorhead’s leadership, McSorley has improved and become more efficient.

In his first year with Moorhead as Penn State’s offensive coordinator, Trace McSorley completed 57.9 percent of his passes. His second year? That had McSorley completing 66.5 percent of his passes.

Moorhead’s confidence in his play calling and Fitzgerald’s potential to thrive is rightly placed.
