Right Now, Nick Fitzgerald Has 72 Total Touchdowns In His Career
This is a record that’ll rely heavily upon Fitzgerald scoring a lot this season. He needs 39 touchdowns to tie Dak Prescott at No. 1 on this list. 40 touchdowns and Nick Fitzgerald will have this record to himself entirely.
As was stated previously, Fitz will have opportunities to score this season. His receiving corps is improved and the Bulldogs will be able to support Fitz through the year.
But, it is possible that Mississippi State’s running backs could take away opportunities for Fitzgerald to claim this record as well as the total touchdowns in a single season record. If Aeris Williams and Kylin Hill continue to develop, then Fitzgerald may not be used as heavily in the running game.
And while that’s great from the perspective of keeping Fitzgerald healthy, it’ll provide fewer opportunities for him to move his name up. That said, assuming Mississippi State is scoring and winning, I doubt anyone will be too upset by that.
