Top 5 Mississippi State Recruiting Busts
1. Quay Evans
2012 Signing Class
The man who inspired this post tops my list as the biggest bust to ever sign at Mississippi State. Quay Evans could have been so much more than he was.
When Quay Evans signed with Mississippi State, the only negative spoken of the player was his maturity and discipline. But many of those criticisms seemed unfounded when he buckled down his senior year in high school, graduated in December and joined the Bulldogs for Spring Practice in 2012. That doesn’t fit the description of an immature player.
Quay Evans, Denico Autry, and Nick James were supposed to make the Mississippi State defensive line one of the best in the country. The Bulldogs have had a ferocious line the last two seasons, but it has had little to do with that group.
Evans was supposed to be a NFL prospect. Instead, he wasted his opportunity and his future is being held in someone else’s hands.
