There were some Mississippi State fans who thought that the Bulldogs might be the favorite to win the Auburn game. It is being played at Davis Wade Stadium. Mississippi State has won the last two teams it has played against top ten opponents. So surely the Bulldogs are going to be the favorite in a showdown of top 3 teams this coming Saturday?

Nope.

The lines for Mississippi State and Ole Miss have just been announced.

Mississippi State is opening as a 3 point underdog to the Auburn Tigers for the biggest game in Davis Wade Stadium history. It is a betting line, so it could change. The Bulldogs opened as a slight underdog to the Texas A&M Aggies before it moved in the opposite direction. Mississippi State ended up as a 2.5 point favorite before the game started.

It’s possible that might happen in this game as well. It’s also possible that the Auburn Tigers could move as an even heavier favorite. How the bets are placed in Las Vegas will determine which way the line moves, if it moves at all.

This will mark the third straight game that Mississippi State will play a top ten ranked team. Earlier today Mississippi State received their highest ranking ever in the AP Poll when they were tied with Ole Miss for 3rd. Saturday’s game will mark the first time that Mississippi State has played a game ranked inside the Top 5 of the AP Poll. It still isn’t enough to make them the favorite in their home stadium.
