Top 10 'Oh, So Close' Games of the Last 20 Years; #5: 2010 vs. No. 13 Arkansas

For the first time since 1999, both Arkansas (#13) and Mississippi State (#21) were ranked coming into the game. It was a great game to watch, but the wrong team won.

It was an offensive showdown as Knile Davis ran for 187 yards and Vick Ballard 150. The two teams were separated by only two total yards: 488 to 486. Chris Relf had 224 yards passing and 103 yards rushing in the game.

MSU had a 21-17 halftime lead, but Arkansas came back in the 2nd half to lead 31-21 in the 4th quarter. State recovered to mount a 75 yard touchdown drive, and then recovered a Knile Davis fumble, drove to the Arkansas 7 and kicked the game-typing field goal.

The game went to overtime where the Bulldogs got the ball first. On 1st & 10 from the 14, Vick Ballard took the carry to the one yard line before Jerico Nelson forced a fumble which bounced out of the endzone…turnover. The Hogs ended up missing a 37 yard field goal and the game went into double overtime. There, Knile Davis would catch a 7 yard TD pass giving UPig a 38-31 lead. State got inside the 15 yard line on their possession, but the game ended on downs.
