It’s officially gameday for the men’s Mississippi State basketball team as the No. 22 Bulldogs are facing the No. 8 Kentucky Wildcats in Lexington on a nationally televised broadcast.

Ben Howland’s Mississippi State basketball team has been doing notably better as of late. The No. 22 Bulldogs have won back-to-back games against Southeastern Conference foes after losing back-to-back games against Southeastern Conference foes.

MSU is back on track.

But, well, there might just be a train that is also barrelling down that track straight at the Bulldogs. And that could, in theory at least, be a significant problem for the Mississippi state basketball team.

That train aiming straight at MSU?

Oh, no big deal, it’s just the No. 8 Kentucky Wildcats. And the Wildcats, seemingly as always, are a ridiculously talented team that has all of the tools necessary to go on and compete for a national title this season.

This may not be the most talented or the best Kentucky team that the college basketball world has seen in recent years, but it’s still a rather dangerous team that MSU really could use a win against.

That won’t be easy though.

It wouldn’t be easily accomplished if this game was in Starkville, Mississippi. Kentucky fans tend to travel pretty well. It wouldn’t be easily accomplished if this game was at a neutral site. Again, UK fans like to travel.

But what really makes this game difficult is that it’s a nationally televised, high profile sporting event and it’s happening in Rupp Arena.

That makes this game much, much more difficult for the Bulldogs to win.

It just being in Rupp Arena doesn’t mean that the Mississippi State basketball team won’t be able to win. The Bulldogs are quite talented themselves and this particular team has a ton of experience. After winning the past couple of games, this group might even have some solid confidence moving forward.

But beating Kentucky is a whole other task entirely. The Bulldogs will have their work cut out for them tonight in Rupp Arena.
