The Texas A&M Aggies will face the South Carolina Gamecocks in Columbia, SC on October 1, 2016.

No. 9 Texas A&M opened as a 14 point favorite vs. South Carolina.

This game will be played at Williams-Brice Stadium. Kickoff is set for 4:00 Eastern / 3:00 Central and will be broadcast by SEC Network.

The Aggies got a huge win against Arkansas in Week 4. They are now 4-0 and look poised to challenge Alabama for the SEC West championship. But alas, they have been great every September since joining the SEC.

It seems we’ve seen this song and dance a few times from the Aggies. They get off to a blistering start with a non-conference power five win followed up by a big victory vs. Arkansas and maybe another (Auburn this year), then they veer off course in October only to recover slightly in November and end up 7-5 or 8-5.

Will the same thing happen in 2016? It’s obviously too early to tell for sure, but one thing that’s appears different about this team is their defensive play. That’s an area that shouldn’t see such peaks and valleys as we’ve seen with the Aggies offense the last couple of seasons.

As for South Carolina, they lost to Kentucky in Week 4. The Wildcats had looked pretty bad up to that point in the season making the game a big time disappointment for the Gamecock faithful.

What bowl hopes still remained were likely flushed down the toilet after that loss, albeit only in Week 4. This game against Texas A&M will be a steep hill to climb as well as games still remaining against Tennessee, Georgia, Florida and Clemson.

If South Carolina can find away to pull off this upset at home it would get them back on track for a chance to go bowling, otherwise this game could just add fuel to the Texas A&M train that seems to be picking up steam.
